Collar and lead

Jasper's collar and lead soaking in disinfectant.

No don't ask!

You really want to know?

Well, a wild boar has visited our vegetable plot down on the field over the last couple of nights. The first time it dug up one of the comfrey plants, the second time it tried to bite about half of our butternut squashes but with the skins being so hard it didn't get very far. The irrigation comes on during the early hours and it's probably as much the promise of water as food that is the attraction, and I think we've been quite lucky not to have had any trouble from the wild boar before.

We can't fence off the whole of the veg plot without a lot of bother, so we're going for a two-pronged approach...

1) having the irrigation coming on at about 7am instead of 2am so that the soil doesn't smell lovely and damp for so long before daybreak

2) placing heaps of dog pooh at the corners of the plot in the hope that it might be a deterrent

So I scooped up lots of Jasper's pooh (all really hard and dry) into one of the rubber buckets and took it down to the field in order to strategically place it, but noticed too late that the dog lead I was also holding had dangled into the bucket...

Well you did ask!
