My alternative diary

Returning home

We left our B&B this morning and decided we’d like to have a little look around Diss on our way following a recommendation from our host. It’s a lovely little market town with some superb 14th century buildings (as well as later) and a fascinating little Museum that was a most interesting visit.

A few miles further on wife noticed a windmill sign and knowing my interest in them she turned into Bardwell village. Bardwell Tower Mill dates from the 1820's and is undergoing a second restoration following very bad storm damage in 1987 when the sails were ripped off. A new cap, fantail and sails have been fitted and the interior is well under way.

As we were making good time we decided to visit Cambridge American Cemetery and Memorial at Madingley. It is a very moving place although the sound grass cutting did rather disrupt the atmosphere. By this time I’d not secured and obvious blip for Tiny Tuesday. Towards the end of our visit I noticed what looked like a little bit of litter. Bending to pick it up I realised it was a tiny fungus. So my blip for Tiny Tuesday is a close-up of this tiny fungus.

Sorry about the lack of commenting but as we were away from home and all the usual demands and distractions, it was nice to just spend some quality time together and managed to post a blip a day. Hope to catch up soon.
