Cairngorm

Sunday! Back-blipping!

We woke up and the weather was actually much better than the forecast - that's Scotland :)
Despite our overindulgence last night at dinner we managed to have breakfast. The omelette with smoked haddock and cheddar was amazing.
At breakfast we also tried to figure out what we would do. We bot fancied a walk in the Cairngorms and found a route that looked easy enough without it being a short walk (10 km is not too bad)
We drove to Glenmore at Loch Morlich and started walking into the hills - equipped with camera stuff, tripod and luckily also skin-so-soft.
It was a lovely walk with great views, passing by An Lochan Uanie and reaching Ryvoan Bothy (Blip) after a couple of hours.
We walked a bit further and had a short consideration of taking a more challenging route back than planned, but decided not to overdo it this time.
We took a lot of photos, but the light was very challenging with very strong contrasts between sky and land - no matter what direction.
When we arrived back at the car we felt quite worn.
We drove to the Rothiemurchus to sit down, have a coffee and decide what to do next before heading home to the hotel.
I wanted to show Neil Carrbridge, with it's very ancient bridge and also wanted to stock up on Skin-so-soft which I knew the village shop is selling there. Luckily they were indeed still selling SSS and I stocked up with 3 bottles. This is the only stuff that keeps midges away and midges can be bad in the Highlands!
Then we went to photograph the bridge. It is built in 1717 and is the oldest stone bridge in the Highlands. Since we had time we faffed a bit around with long exposures which was spoilt by the sun suddenly coming out when you don't need it.
But we had fun at least.
We arrived in our hotel in time for dinner. We were quite shattered and had to declare ourselves defeated after the main course. As much as I wanted the Carrot Cheesecake, I could not fit it in! I should have skipped the starter.
After dinner we sat in the lounge but true tiredness hit us and we went to bed at 10 pm!!! (I NEVER go to bed at 10 pm!!!)
It was actually nice to feel true physical tiredness instead of the usual "mental" tiredness.

Main Blip shows Ryvoan Bothy
Extras: Cairngorms x 2 and the bridge
