Way home

Back blipping .......

We got up at 8 ish and packed our belongings before we went for breakfast.
Was not really hungry but could not miss this wonderful omelette.
Once we checked out the weather was looking much nicer and sun came out.
So we started our planned walk up the local hill.
It was a beautiful walk through lovely and bright woodland. On the top was a monument ( duke of Gordon ) and lovely views. It was not as stunning as on yesterday’s hill but still beautiful.
We walked down again and hit the road past Newtonmore towards Laggan. I wanted to show Neil one of my favourite places, the lower falls of Pattack in a wonderful setting.
The weather was stunning almost 20 degrees.
I took some photos then we walked up along the river Pattack. It was so beautiful. There were plenty of mushrooms and I collected quite a few.
We spent much more time here than planned. But in the end we had no fixed plans!
We were back at the car after 4pm and drove up to Loch Laggan for a nosey. The water was very low. No wonder after this summer.
We turned and drove to the Woolftraxx bike center where they had opened a cafe since I was here last. I also had a brownie with it.
We continued on the A9 towards South. Stopped at the Pass of Killiecrankie and walked the visitors route down to the Soldiers Leap. It’s told that an English soldier jumped over to the other side when chased by the Jacobite Clansmen.
I think it’s 5-6 meters. That was quite some jump.
We had another stop in Dunkeld and a stroll through this lovely old village in Perthshire.
It was after 8 before we left.
Our next plan was fish and chips! I actually wanted to get to Callander for it but they close at 9 pm. What a shame. The Callander Chippy is one of the best in the country.
Neil googled while I was driving and found another place on the road with great reviews.
Thus we had Our fish and chips in Bannockburn at Bruno‘s and it was outstanding.
We sat on a bench in a small park opposite the shop and ate the fish out of the paper. I could not even resist the batter.

Another hour and we were home. Slightly exhausted but happy. We had a good weekend!!

Blipping a shot of the waterfall - Lower Falls of Pattack
Still incredibly behind - work turned crazy after we returned ....
