Fields of peanuts !!!!

Since I had lookers at my house this am at 9, the girls and I tried to get a walk in this morning.  It already was 91, the sun was strong and bright.  We did manage to walk to the cow fields, only to find that the cows were gone and  approximately 3 separate pastures had been plowed and planted with peanuts.   Thats a lot of peanuts since each field probably 75 acres.
The girls and I walked over to the peanut plants, which were only about 1/2 grown.    We are getting close to harvest time, I see the peanut wagons lining up everywhere's.  I would guess these fields were planted a bit later during spring and will therefore, be harvested later this fall.
Peanuts grow under ground.  The plants you see are above the soil, sending nutrients down to the peanuts, underground.  When peanuts are harvested, they are green, turning brown after they dry.  The fields, in return, are rotated with other crops, which return nutrients to the soil.  It is, as they say, good agricultural management
Peanuts are a huge crop here in Williston.   Most of the harvest is sold as seed, in the late winter, all around the U.S..   In honor of the peanut, we have a Peanut Festival in October.  A Peanut King and Queen is chosen, rides, clown painters,  booths, cotton candy, and a host of other activities are enjoyed by Williston citizens and many people from the surrounding areas.
