Gullfoss

The 'golden waterfall' bathed in sunlight... And a rainbow! An exciting start to the day when we picked up our car- I successfully negotiated our way out of Reykjavik on the RH side and in a manual car which I havent driven for a while, and drove to Pingvellir National Park. Although cloudy it was warm and perfect walking weather. Our first walk was along the Stekkjargja Fault to the Oxarafoss Waterfall. We had lunch in an extremely peaceful spot on the side of Lake Pingvallavatn. After we headed to Geysir with 100 degree rivers and Strokkur, an amazing geyser spouting every few minutes. The best was definitely kept till last with the Gullfoss Waterfall, where we were treated to stunning blue skies and a lovely rainbow, (above). Driving back to our hotel was across beautiful farm land, with mountain backdrops as Thelma and Louise sang away happily
