Knocking

(Posting this on 25th when I noticed I had forgotten to do a journal entry)
Morning walk in Sontheim as I wanted to pick up some things at the supermarket. It was fairly early but already very warm. Flash was suffering, being very unsteady on his pins and he wasn't keen on going far.

Just as we arrived back at the car, Postman Pat turned up. The dogs recognise the yellow post van from a long distance and were thrilled to see Pat who however busy he is, takes time to give them a stroke. And today he was very busy, the van loaded for the latest distribution of the IKEA catalogue.

So we quickly said our farewells, Flash went over to the car and then fell over having another of his fits. As always I held him tight for  the minute or so that he is shaking. After that he lifts his head, looks around as i to say "What was that?" and simply gets up and  wobbles around for a few steps before seemingly being fine.

It doesn't seem to be a stroke such as he had around Easter but presumably his weak heart muscles causing the fit. There is no sign of pain. For the most part he just seems like you might expect any 90 year old to be. Certainly he has an enormous determination to go on and still considers himself chief rounder up around the property.

Despite being well prepared and knowing any minute could be the end, it is very hard to see him in these moments.
