Hooray for Henryi

Saturday 26th August 2017 (1827)

After all these years Henryi clematis has finally settled down and produced a lovely flower. I don't think I've done my job properly in the last few years in terms of pruning him. He is very tall with no leaves and looks pretty dead on the trellis but has now managed to produce this flower right at the top. I think he grew too high too soon, after many years of not growing at all. Nelly is the same and hasn't wanted to flower this year. I need to learn what to do with them.
