Beneath Biscay

Stripey emblems

Gijon's emblematic striped beach tents. They are or were original to Gijon, serving to preserve ones modesty while getting changed in and out of bathing costumes. An evolution from their predecessors, the horse drawn wooden bathing huts.

Only one in was in use today. Not surprising perhaps, given the threatening clouds.

Taken on the way back along the promenade after a lunch with a group of friends.
