Cleanup Crew

You never know what's going to turn up on your morning walk. Here we are on the path, just past the stairs and the memorial for all the lost surfers. The city clean-up crew is busy hauling two giant leather recliner chairs up the cliff from the beach. Two guys and a winch. You can just see the top of one's head, down there below the chair. He seems strong enough to carry the darn thing straight up the face of the cliff, but he's hooked up the cable and the chair is rising slowly toward the road. When it gets to the top, he climbs up and just throws it over the fence as if it were a toy. People often set up furniture on the rocks there, a comfy way to watch the surf for awhile, but what happens when all this stuff gets carried out to sea? This particular arrangement was heavy and elaborate--it would have taken some work to get the furniture down there in the first place. I never thought about what happens after that, but here are these guys, doing their jobs on a foggy morning. "Hey," one of them shouts, "want a recliner? We deliver!"
