Lagoon Management

Another chapter in the never-ending saga of the lagoon and its relationship to the amusement park. The seasonal build-up of sand (visible at top right) has blocked the river from emptying into the ocean . Instead, the stagnant water flows parallel to the sea and separates the main public beach into two narrow strips. The plan afoot this morning involves pushing a lot of sand around to make the beach a little more accessible for the upcoming big holiday weekend. The guys with the nets have walked the length of the lagoon, hopefully scooping up any fish that are living in the pool before the bulldozers come in and change the channel. Dragging the nets looked like very hard work, involved a lot of guys and yielded just a few microscopic fish. But I suppose it's work that had to be done. What I love more than anything is the yellow curve of the net, and the fact that the 'dozer was operated by a woman.
