The Lozarithm Lens

The Old Forge (Thursday 31st August 2017)

It's another Diary Blip I'm afraid. While the builder was customising a ready-made door to fit as the driveway outbuilding door, I was completing the re-siting of the pathway, replacing the stone borders and filling the path with sand. It is now possible to pass along it without walking into a tree.

Lozarhythm of the Day:
Fotheringay - Silver Threads And Golden Needles (recorded November-December 1971)
I first knew this in the hit version by the Springfields (led by Dusty) and later by Linda Ronstadt, but suprisingly the original version was a B-side by Wanda Jackson in 1956. Sandy Denny recorded this with her band Fotheringay for their second album, 2, but the band split up and the album was shelved. This track, produced by Joe Boyd, later surfaced on a collection of Sandy Denny material called A Box Full Of Treasures. She recorded the song again for her 1977 solo album Rendezvous. The lost Fotheringay album was remixed and finally issued in 2008, and reappeared on a Fotheringay box set I played on this day.
