The Scotsman`s Bridge.

Henry Charles Stanley was 23 years old when he left Edinburgh in 1876 . He went to Queensland to become their Chief Engineer for Railways. He designed this bridge, the Dickabram, over the Mary river , completed in May 1886. The cost was £14,000.The bridge is the only one left in Queensland now that takes both rail and vehicles on the same spans.
His older brother, Francis,  followed him to Brisbane, becoming Queensland Colonial Architect, and built many banks, railway stations and courthouses throughout the State.
Between them they built perhaps the finest house in the State overlooking the Brisbane river, calling it Tighnabruaich, after a village  in Kyles of Bute. The house is now Heritage Listed, as is the bridge.
