Back in the Washington Territory Days....

Back before Washington became a state and 75 years before the dam was built to control flooding in the valley the settlers all lived in the hills and farmed in the valley..  Peter and Margaret were one of the homesteaders.. During a bad rain storm one fall, with the valley flooded, Peters wife passed away due to child birth complications. Unable to get to the local cemetery, he buried her on the corner of his land. Word spread and soon Peter sectioned off the corner for a local cemetery. When he passed away, the cemetery was given to the local Methodist Church to maintain with the stipulation that all faiths can be buried here.

For many years this cemetery was forgotten, overgrown and vandalized until the city took it over and it became a historical Pioneer Cemetery.

It's been a long day.. but a three day holiday is coming up. Labor Day weekend as we call it.. It's going to be nice trying to do nothing..
