Last Night in Sweden

“A collection of brilliant, diverse and award-winning photo-journalists … document everyday life all over Sweden. The photos encapsulate a true and candid Sweden, and include all the little moments that rarely make the news.”

Back in February that strange USA President mysteriously referred to ‘what happened last night in Sweden’ in one of his speeches.
As far as most Swedes knew nothing special had happened the previous night and there was a fair amount of light-hearted commentary in the Twittersphere.
However, one group decided to send an answer to the orange haired man and a Kickstarter campaign was set in motion. The aim was to use Sweden's best documentary photographers to take pictures, after 6 pm, on the theme “Last night in Sweden”.  A book of photographs (and commentating text) would be produced and the first book off the presses would be sent to the president.
We ordered a book for 200 kronor to help fund the project, and 892 other people also contributed raising 355,000 kronor, enough to provide a copy of the book to Trump, to every member of the US Congress and the European Parliament, and every upper secondary school in Sweden.
We got our book this morning!
The photographs show births, deaths, games, homes, choirs, dancing, cooking, people at work, hospital scenes, events both dramatic and quiet. One of my favourites is from the far north of Sweden, a man barbecuing chops as snow is falling, his dog sitting nearby, staring with great concentration at the sizzling meat!
If you’d like a copy it’s available on Amazon UK from 7 September.
