Roof Workers

I opened our back door early this morning and heard a dull scraping, grinding sound.  I wandered in search of the source, and saw these workers scraping off the shingles on this house just down from us. There are six--one is behind the two trees--just his hand is visible (I think). It was a cool, clear gorgeous day --ideal for roof work.

In contrast, the extra displays the rainy scene at the U.S. Open tennis tournament in NYC this evening, as fans waited to get into the Ashe Stadium (covered, obviously) for the first match of the evening program with Roger Federer. He finally started at 9:40--two hours and forty minutes after the scheduled evening starting time. (the preceding women's match lasted nearly three hours, and may itself have begun late). The TV commentators are on the left--Rafael Nadal (in the pink sweat suit) has just gotten up to leave.

The rain is schedule to reach us for much of tomorrow.
