Investing in the future

When the Programme for Government is published on Tuesday, at the start of the new Holyrood parliamentary term , I am sure many of us will be reflecting on the last ten years and what investments have been made in our areas and in Scotland.

Here are two of them only a few miles from my house which I photographed coming back from Bute this morning.

On the right are the works being undertaken in a £6million pound harbour renewal project to replace the ferry slipways on both sides of this narrow but important crossing and expand the vehicle marshalling area..

On the left is the ferry itself , the fares on which have been substantially reduced by the introduction of RET  increasing traffic by 13% in the last year and improving connectivity.

A third benefit is not visible but could be used to access this picture.  4G mobile phone coverage was switched on here this week and the connection of the backhaul will  (hopefully) facilitate the introduction of high speed broadband within the next few months.

Throughout Scotland there are similar stories to tell.   No Government is perfect but a lot of investment has taken place and the country is a different place as a result.
