MONO MONDAY - FAVOURITE PLACE
When I saw that the theme for Mono Monday was “Favourite Place” it wasn’t too difficult to think of somewhere. We often go to Jack’s in Old Town for coffee and as today was a rainy and grey day, Mr. HCB suggested we went there - which suited me fine.
I took this photograph of our coffee and the lovely fresh flowers, which always look good on the tables. Before we left home, I had said to Mr. HCB that I hadn’t seen much of my friend, Caroline, but should make arrangements to meet her soon. As we sat in Jack’s who should we see getting off the bus but Caroline, her husband, Mike and grandson, Ethan. They were obviously coming into Jack’s so came and sat with us and we were able to have a good chat.
Mike is a model railway enthusiast and is also involved with the Swindon & Cricklade Railway, Wiltshire's only standard-gauge heritage railway that has vintage steam and diesel-hauled trains operating on a short section of the old Midland and South Western Junction Railway line between Swindon and Cricklade so he and Mr. HCB were happy to chat about railways. You can find out more about this railway here.
We also saw other friends and chatted with them; one in particular, Margaret, is a great Formula One fan, so as Gill, a lady from our Church, had recently been to the Grand Prix in Belgium, I had asked her if she could bring something back for Margaret. Yesterday at Church, Gill very kindly gave me a couple of ticket stubs, a map of the track and several photographs - the one Margaret was most thrilled about was Lewis Hamilton in his car as he flashed past - isn’t it great to be able to bring a smile to someone’s face with a kind gesture, especially as Gill doesn’t even know Margaret!
Now home again, but it’s still grey, so I think I will leave the housework for today - there’s always tomorrow!
