Lakeland Sky

"You never know what's around the corner. It could be everything. Or it could be nothing. You keep putting one foot in front of the other, and then one day you look back and you've climbed a mountain.”
Tom Hiddleston

Not quite such a long drive today as we head out of Shrewsbury for the Lake District to meet up with K2, who's at Ullswater to write about a hotel there.  A short cross country journey to the M6 and wouldn't you know it, traffic at a standstill!  Fortunately we've allowed plenty of time for our Northward trip - having bypassed Birmingham I thought we'd missed the problem area.  A rather more sedate pace and we make steady progress and are eventually greeted by the stunning spectacle of the North Lakes fells.  Mind bogglingly big and lumpy, with a hint of deep purple [or Led Zeppelin] streaking the tops of some of them in the afternoon light.  Good to be back, K and I spent our first holiday together here 35 years ago.
