Luther Burbank's Home

Considering that all we wanted to do was paint our house white again, choosing a color shouldn't have turned into such a chore. We went to the paint store and discovered that our house is painted "Swiss Coffee" and that it THE most common white. Who would have believed that there are about 500 different colors of white? I had toyed with the idea of painting the trim a slightly different white, or the house a slightly different hue, but it is becoming fraught with potential arguments.

OilMan and I have driven or walked around several neighborhoods looking for paint jobs we liked, but that just made it more confusing. Should we paint it a totally different color? It used to be painted BLACK!.

The young woman at the paint store was very helpful,  giving us some pointers on choosing a few colors, buying a small can of each,, putting it on the house and standing back and looking at a checkerboard of different colors,, what more could she say than, "In the end it has to be something you like.." No kidding....

Driving past Luther Burbank's house, which is open to the public, I noticed that it is probably painted "Swiss Coffee" I parked the car and got out to have a closer look. The trim is the same as the main house color. It's a different type of house from ours, but  I think it looks just fine...and it's a lovely garden in the center of the city to wander around and enjoy for a few minutes.
