If you can't beat them...

Abies Koreana.

Another day of hanging round home waiting for a delivery which when it arrived (at 4:45) was only half of what was expected.  So another day of seeing what the garden could provide.

For a few years now we have been buying garden centre conifers as Christmas trees and then (if the survive) planting them out.  This Korean Fir is one such.  It amazes me how young this species produces cones.  This little tree is only about 1.25 m (4 ft) and the lowest cone is about 60 cm (2ft) from  the soil.  Planted out it will eventually reach 10-18 m.  The cone on this one is less than the length of the first joint of my thumb but bigger than the nail.

The evening was as usual every alternate Wednesday spent pleasantly in the pub with Kanyl.
