Illuminated Windmills of Kinderdijk

The nineteen windmills of Kinderdijk are one of Hollands main tourist attractions and have the Unesco World Heritage status.

One can imagine it's crowded with tourists at day time, but just once a year they are illuminated at night, making it even more spectacular.

This year I was so lucky - thanks to a fellow photographer - to shoot the windmills from one of the other windmills as she knew the inhabitants.

This is private property, so it offers standpoints that one normally would never be permitted to shoot from!

We even took photos from inside, as you can see in the extra as well as my blue hour picture of 'our' windmill no5 on the outside.

Note. I made the magic hour picture from a tripod as one should do, the one in the main entry I shot as an experiment handheld without any support in the dark of the night.
