A Kestrel for a Nic

Why not view large?
The sun finally put in an appearance today, so we went off to RSPB Old Moor. Of course I'd hoped to get bird no. 133, but a very distant little stint, and a blurry tree sparrow just couldn't compete with this fine creature looking resplendent in the late afternoon sunshine. The kestrel has strong associations with this area because of Barry Hines' book A Kestrel for a Knave, on which the film Kes was based.
Nicola is the RSPB volunteer who tweets for Old Moor, and today is here birthday, so Nicola - this one is for you :-)
