Dalia Transformed

Dalia beach was a must-go-to location. White sands in a bay lapped by pristine waters of the Mediterranean with blue fishing boats dotted about the beach.

No longer. I took this from the top of the hill overlooking the bay. Gibraltar lies on the horizon. Straw umbrellas dot the beach which is now largely accessible by boardwalks over the loose sand. Cars are herded into parking areas behind the beach. There is a lifeguard stand, showers, toilets, a snack bar and plenty of men wearing shirts emblazoned with the Tanger-Med logo picking up all evidence of litter.

And people. A lot of people. Len and I are used to having the beach to ourselves.

It was a disappointment for us but marvellous for the many Moroccan tourists on the beach.

It might be different in the winter. The fishing boats have all been moved to the end of the beach near the small village.
