A Taste of West Cork

As part of the Taste of West Cork we all went to Castletownshend today for a somewhat damp exploration of the village. We started in Drishane House (see extra) home of Somerville & Ross of the Irish RM fame and were taken around by one of the family who still own it. A remarkable place full of wild Regency wallpaper (good) and ancient fox heads (not so good). We then walked down the main street with another member of the family and ended up at their other pad, the Castle where large bowls of very welcome soup were taken. A very muddy visit to a well on the way home, a very quick change and out to a birthday supper for 9 of us. A great day.
I have a thing for these old telephone boxes, what a shame they don't still work but it's kept in very good nick.
