a lifetime burning

Caught red handed

Our last day started with a leisurely breakfast and a wander around the streets of Cascais.  The sun beat down on those on the beach, and by noon my friends and I beat a retreat to a shady restaurant table with a view of the sea.  This piece of street art is quite novel:  it has no palm side, both sides instead featuring the back of the hand.

It was while we were at lunch that we started to get the first inklings of the problems being caused by the French general strike and its impact upon air traffic control.  At first there was a suggestion that our flight might be cancelled, but in the end it was merely delayed and we arrived back safe and sound.
