Roses......

.....wine....

.....and a lovely lunch with Daughter A at Prefab in Wellington.

Nice to have a day away from the house driving over the Rimutaka's to Wellington. Willows draped along the Hutt River were beautiful with their fresh spring green leaves, gently swaying in the breeze. The harbour looked stunning with silvery grey tones against a misty background. Brief pockets of light lit the city as raindrops hit the windscreen, unfortunately we've not struck Wellington on a nice day for a wee while now. I was contented to sit, relax and let my thoughts drift as we traveled instead of using the camera to take random shots.

On arriving in the capital we hunted out Arty Bee's, a second hand book store. With 2 banana boxes and a smaller box we were hopeful to off-load some books, they took 8 which was a little disappointing. Books just aren't moving even if they're free and we've got so many. What are we supposed to do with them, it seems criminal to dump them but we are unable to take them home. Book fairs are struggling to move books and nobody wants them donated, a sign of the times - sadly people are just not 'into' books anymore.

Thoroughly enjoyed meeting A for lunch at one of her favourite eating haunts - Prefab. I admired the roses with their pretty vibrant shades and yes they are real :)

Even though not a close-up I've chosen to add to this to the Flower Friday challenge, flowers can create such a lovely atmosphere and certainly makes everyone feel welcome, relaxed and leave smiling.

Leaving the city, the wind had got up, now the harbour was blue but ever so choppy. Workmen on the Rimutaka Range were holding their hard hats and finding it difficult to walk, our car was rocking in the wind.

Friday - mostly windy, cloudy, warm, nice to be 'out and about' :)

PS Thank you for your ideas re our stockpile of books. We would be happy to donate them to charity but it seems they to have a stockpile and are not accepting any more.
