Walking to Work

Asilah yesterday was as wonderful as ever. There were tourists. There was also enterprise and beach umbrellas. Moroccans have discovered the seaside. A phenomenon that began in Britain in the 19th century when cheaper transport enabled the masses to travel to the coast.

After a short amble round the streets we sat opposite the port, which has been improved with an entrance arch, a confining wall as well as a new breakwater to give better protection to the fishing boats, drinking Moroccan whisky (mint tea) and cracking open peanuts.

Overnight, my 'malade' resumed. It's enervating. Len slept through it all.

So we rose later than usual. Len went for a swim, I went to look at the beach. The temperature has dropped since last week but I find it very comfortable. We can even do without A/C indoors most of the time.

The camels passed, walking towards their station at the far end of the beach, near the port. They'll return 'home,' probably the wadi at the other end of the beach, around 7 pm.
