Duck Island

We have seen this digger by the river in Appleby and assumed it doing some dredging, as part of flood prevention. However, seeing it from the other side of the river this afternoon, made us wonder what they were actually doing. They seem to have dumped a load of stone. I wonder what they are going to do with it. They have made a lovely rock island for the birds, which wasn’t there before, but quite what that has to do with anything is puzzling. I was going to ask the guys as they arrived back from a break in the town, but I didn’t. A lovely sunny day today . . . and no rain!
