Invicta Road Roller

The weather once more being rather gloomy and wet, presaging tomorrow's autumn equinox, it's a good time to do gardening... and on a trip out to pick up a load of well rotted horse manure in the camper van - as you do - we stumbled across this marvellous old fellow. More pictures on Flickr, as ever.

Invicta road rollers were made in Lincolnshire from around the mid thirties, and were a common sight in my childhood, laying down lovely black tarmac on the roads. Of course, we don't see anything like that any more. Soon we will be fishing in the potholes for our supper...!

It's also International Peace Day. Simply having the ability to sit in front of our computers and upload photographs proves we are living in a peaceful space. Not everyone is so fortunate, and of course (and relevant to this place) some photographers are capturing very different images.

May there be peace within you, around you and from you.
