Medieval Villages

Today’s ride suggested for hybrid bikes that you take a 10 minute train ride then a 25km loop of some villages. For road bikes, they suggest a longer ride over the mountain to get there. Of course, we decided we would go on the road. The girl in the bike shop looked doubtful. It’s not possible on a hybrid she said. It’s 10km uphill then 6km down with about 500m of climbing. So harder on the way back. We said we would give it a go...

It turned out to be my kind of hill. Not too steep, just grind your way to the top where there were fantastic views to the sea and to the Pyrenees. On the way back I thought for a moment I had made a horrid mistake, but was in the wrong gear! Once ,y granny gear was found everything was well.

The villages were lovely; many were walled and lots of lovely nooks and crannies to wander through.

Sunflowers here Must be for seeds or oil given the fields of blackened heads.

Then back to Girona for the best meal of the holiday and watching people gather for another demonstration about the forthcoming referendum. There’s no obvious sign of the no voters anywhere in Girona.
