The Edge of the Wold

Crow flight

It was a mostly cloudy day with a bright start and a brief showing of the sun at the end of the day as we walked along the estuary (see extra). The main blip is another morning misty shot, looking from the Knott top down onto Arnside Tower and the farm. Modern farms are none too handsome with their long sheds where the stock are overwintered, but Arnside Tower Farm is improved by a little morning mist streaming up valley. The tumbledown, fortified tower sits on higher ground above the farm buildings and often sits proud above the fingers of mist.

Today would have been my Mum's 93rd birthday, she passed from this life in January 2000. Coincidentally, the mother of my friend and colleague Ali was born on the very same day, though she is still very much with us, and her family are celebrating her birthday in London today.
