A favourite place

Twice each year we come up to Peebles in the Scottish Borders to visit old friends.
We cannot come here without visiting the Botanic Gardens at Dawyck. It is run by the Royal Edinburgh Botanic Gardens and is really an Arboretum.
My shot shows some Colchicums. We are two or three weeks early for the best Autumn colour but my extras give some hint of what is to come. The wooden statue is of David Douglas who brought back many trees from western north America including the famous Douglas Fir.
