A Day Out in Jersey

My heart sank this morning when His Lordship and I looked out first thing on a seascape of mist and gloom, especially as we had booked a whole day tour of Jersey. For once though the gods were with us, and by the time the bus arrived it was much brighter and by early afternoon there was even a wink of sunshine.

Jersey is an amazing place, completely self governing and with ancient laws governing things like capital punishment, to having an owned caravan either parked in a garage or otherwise covered up, and the almost impossible right of incomers to rent or own a house for 10 years.
The island looks amazingly affluent with beautiful housing and not a beggar in sight on the streets. It would be interesting to be told about the other side of the coin, if there is one.

We had a lovely day seeing the sights and consuming lots of delicious Jersey ice cream amongst other delights ( a sneaky G&T,a beer and deadly cheesy nachos if you must know) which seemed the way to go when out and about on a bus with rather too many pensioner companions.

It was difficult to chose a blip from all the photos I took, but this small corner of a public garden in Gorey captured the spotlight. The extra is part of a huge sand sculpture in St Catherine's Bay
