Apple Trees

In the past couple of weeks on my lunch time walks I've noticed a number apple trees with rosy red apples waiting to be picked. I am not sure if I took them I'd be done for corporate theft or end up in a 100 year snooze... oops am I getting my fairy tales mixed up?
