St Malo

Another day, another country.
We arrived in the dark, an hour ahead of our body clocks into the port of St Malo last night.
If we thought the taxi service at Edinburgh bus station was bad, we hadn't experienced that at the ferry terminal at this port. Fortunately it wasn't raining as we waited 30 minutes for a taxi

Our hotel is equidistant from St Malo and St Servan, but this morning we chose to visit the former. I have been to this walled city in another life, but it was still exciting to walk round the walls again and wander through the cobbled streets beneath them.
St Malo suffered terribly with bombing during WWII and has largely been rebuilt. The resulting new granite buildings inside the walls are in pristine condition.*

We indulged in a little retail therapy before relaxing with our obligatory crêpes and galettes washed down with wine in a pleasant sunny square.
I'm not sure if this couple were embracing or strangling each other- you decide.
