A good day for a bike ride.

I was going to head in to Leeds this morning but then Tony suggested it was a lovely day for a bike ride so tyres pumped and helmets on, we set out on a route we haven't done for a long time.  We rode the back lanes to Keelham and then joined the traffic for a while till turning off to Ogden Water.  Across the dam top and up the cobbles till the top road across Warley Moor.  The views were wonderful and it was indeed a lovely day.

We paused for me to blip the wind turbines on top of the moor and I spotted a sheep stuck in the fence so Tony did a bit of rescuing!

Then it was a smashing long ride across the moors with views across Warley Reservoir, home to Halifax Sailing Club, and then down to the valley and the villages of Oxenhope, Leeming and Haworth.  My blip is taken on the descent from the moor towards Oxenhope.  You can just  see Tony about to disappear over the brow of the hill.

We pedalled through Oxenhope and then took the steep climb to Penistone Hill - lots of hills on this ride!  Tony crossed the moor whilst I went round it, meeting him at the junction above Haworth, and then we juddered down the cobbles to our lunch stop 'Cobbles and Clay'.  A fish finger sandwich and lamb kofta (yum) later and we were back on the bikes and the cobbles down through Haworth, up to Crossroads and then back over our moor to home.

I washed the bikes down and then friend Helen arrived just in time for a cuppa in the afternoon sunshine.  Catching up was done and as Helen left, friend Verity arrived to advise on wedding outfit!  I'm useless at these things so it's good to have friends take charge and suggest what to do and where to go!
