Suite ..............

 ............ Saturday.

No more sun loungers .... yay!!

We got our suite back yesterday evening - all three pieces (3-seater, 2-seater and gentleman's chair) completely re-upholstered - wooden frames checked and adjusted, springs checked, new seat & back inner cushions, new scatter cushion inserts and new castors.

It looks soooooooooooo different in the room - the insert is the old Chinese-style material/pattern, which I really loved and the larger main photo is the new.  The original fabric was a linen/cotton mix, the new more of a Middle Eastern style tapestry feel and thickness.

Better on large

It most definitely wasn't cheap to have the work done but the moral of the story is you get what you pay for in my opinion.  (The only new suite we found that we both liked was over £8,000 (US$10,400 - aaargh.)

The workmanship is superb and, although it doesn't look like it on my photo, the fabric pattern exactly matches all the way through (even when you take off the seat/back cushions) - we had arm protectors made and they, too, exactly match the pattern of the arms underneath.

We hadn't realised just how very soft and "used" the frames and cushions were before - however we have had the suite twenty five years, with three dogs and continuous daily use, it has served us well.
With the new inserts it's a LOT firmer but, with use, it will soften over time.

We had a bit of a tussle getting the three seater sofa (84"/210cms long) out when it was collected - even more of a tussle getting it back in - it's heavier now (the weight of the fabric made a lot of difference surprisingly and it's also thicker) - the castors had to come off to get it through the front door, the inner porch door and then turn it in the hallway to get it into the sitting room - it's a long and wide sofa!!  The two seater and chair were much less tricky.  :o))

I know that the old and the new will not be to everyone's taste but we like them both very much and, as it's us that has paid for it, sits on it and has to look at it, that's exactly how it should be.  :o))

That is the saga of the Saturday suite!!

Happy weekend everyone.
