Paris - Fashion Week

I was up very early this morning so I went for a walk by myself before breakfast. It was raining and rather dull, but I still managed to take many photos. The padlocks on the bridge are quite remarkable - see extra photo. They have been removed from Pont des Arts as they were too heavy and the bridge was at risk, but are still present on another stronger section of another bridge.

After breakfast we set off walking all over Paris - past the Louvre and the pyramids, on to the Tuileries Gardens, then to Place de la Concorde, past the Grand Palais and up the Champs des Elysees to get the metro to Trocadero to see the Eiffel Tower. All the while stopping to take photos! I have added an extra of the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel (which is not the main one) as it looked lovely once the rain stopped and the blue skies returned.

Around the Eiffel Tower there were so many tourists and I liked this little girl being very French in her red beret - see extra. It is Paris Fashion Week and we came across these models being photographed. No wonder there is so much bad press about the fashion industry - these models were all so thin, they looked so miserable, they seemed distant and bored to tears, not engaging with the photographers or the designer.

We had lunch in a cafe near the Eiffel Tower and then walked on to see the beautiful gardens of Les Invalides - extra photo included. This was followed by a visit to the gardens of the Rodin Museum which was very interesting. By now we were all very tired and walked back to the hotel.

I am meeting Luke for supper tonight and then we are all going to do some night photography around the Louvre. Its been a long and tiring day, but most enjoyable
