Aaaaaaargh

I make no apologies for today's photo. I will be the first to admit it is completely rubbish but it captures my day perfectly.

I had an early start this morning to catch the coach down to watch Chester at Eastleigh (near Southampton). At 12:45pm we were about 30 miles from the ground when we heard that the game had been postponed because of a waterlogged pitch. This meant turning round and coming back again so I have spent nine pointless hours on a coach at a cost of £30. This photo was taken on my iPhone from my seat.

This means that two Chester games have been postponed under dubious circumstances already this season and its not even the end of September.

The circumstances behind this one are extremely annoying because it seems it was down to a drainage problem but apparently a referee has passed the surface as fit last night and as a result a proposed pitch inspection this morning didn't go ahead. Even at 12pm Eastleigh said there was no problem and it was only when the match referee turned up at 12:30 that the match was called off. The postponement was a complete surprise to us as we never knew about the inspections or that the match was in doubt and even officials at Chester didn't know there was a problem after being assured by Eastleigh.

To cap it all Eastleigh have issued a statement but not apologised to Chester or their supporters for the way they have handled the whole affair.
