St Peter's Church, Marlow

Yesterday evening we drove from Newcastle to Marlow (after all, we'd actually spent three whole nights at home so it was time to go away again!).

In fact we came here as my younger brother was holding his 60th birthday party here today. (You feel old when your kid brother is turning 60, but it's not quite so bad as he doesn't actually turn 60 for another four days, on Wednesday 4th October! Astute historians may notice that, on that actual day in 1957, the Russians started the space age by launching Sputnik 1 - so he was a very early space age baby.)

We all had a great time at this lovely family get-together, which was held in the hall of St Peter's Church in Marlow. The church itself (shown in my blip) is rather beautiful, and is of historical interest: it was opened in 1846, is now Grade 2 listed, and was designed by Augustus Pugin who is more famous for having designed the interior of the Palace of Westminster.
