Waving, not drowning

Today's plan was simple: swimming, eating, jazz, eating.

So here is Mr B being the only family member properly launched into the sea. This was prefaced firstly by the hotel kindly supplying eggs and bacon for breakfast, and later by a lot of rock pooling (during which I was given a sharply painful reminder that recently twisted ankles shouldn't scramble over rocks), sand cave excavating and (Mr B alone) swimming. And all of this in the shadow of an Ancient Greek breakwater.

Slightly later TallGirl and I were very disturbed by some folk playing with an octopus baby (TallGirl was so upset she very nearly said something to them - which is taking things pretty far for someone so shy), CarbBoy was tricked by me when he asked me to video him running/falling down a sand dune and I, several times, wasn't quite ready - so that tired him out nicely going up and down. Then lunch on the beach and off to a neighbouring town for afternoon jazz at a bar, though Mr B was so curiously intimidated by the clientele (average age 70) that we sat outside.

Lots of checking of local news regarding the referendum and, later, we drove by a couple of voting centres - which seemed very calm. Different story in Barcelona, obviously. Really disturbing images. TallGirl is very engaged in the story, CarbBoy (skim-reader) needed a little primer on how hitting people with sticks is worse, in terms of lawbreaking, than an unauthorised referendum. He got there in the end.

Later, a final stop at our most local beach, for tapas and to bid farewell to the Dutch Geordie barman, who is now shutting up shop for the year. Then a drink on the balcony, with the added delight of a kingfisher flitting up and down the stream we overlook.

This evening, dinner at our new local, where we are now greeted as old friends with Sangria on the house. Too many mussels, some chocolate desserts and an extremely cute Portuguese Water Dog neighbour who was kept occupied during the meal opening a Sean the Sheep pencil case for treats.

Another lovely long day.
