Smart rubber shoes

for the horse as metal is not needed in the sand - the farrier was not happy that I took his photograph.  Erfoud is on the borders of the Sahara and used to be the gateway for camel caravans to the south and east.  It is the date capital of Africa and we went to the market to see farmers bringing in boxes of them for sale, a sheep and donkey market. In a fossil factory we watched men carving and polishing huge pieces of rock, found between here and the Algerian border, full of ammonites, squid, fish and trilobites. Finally went out into the Sahara on camels to watch the sun set (it didn't because of cloud) over the dunes. Have had two nights here and will be off again now as this is late for posting due to an awful internet connection so don't seem able to upload extras which is a shame.  But thanks for all your lovely comments.
