Calgary Bay

9 hours. That feels better!

Well, the sheep are looking a bit whiter this morning. Could have been the extended heavy duty car wash we were in last night! But, putting an ear plug in and folding my ear lobe over the top worked well for some really solid hours of sleep, just waking up every two or three hours to tuck Little Dog back in and swap ears.

We woke up to rain and an hour or so later after some more snoozing and breakfast, my weather forecast came in from Kalymnos. You can trust the Greeks for good data service! It doesn't really matter when it rains or shines but it's good to be able to be somewhere to nip out and catch the best of it. So, Rich, on holiday with the boys, has been on weather duty.

He's doing rather well as the 11am bit of brightness came in right on time as we arrived at Calgary Bay.  We had a sunny walk down the coast before getting hit by the deluge. I was well prepared with full waterproofs but had neglected to bring Little Dog's coat. Luckily, the sun came out as we arrived back on the sand so an extended double circuit of the beach was in order to prevent the van smelling of damp dog. Like she minded! It's definitely been a well-deserved dog's day!

The light has been spectacular. I'm not sure whether it'll be a landscape today or one of the Scottish hooded crows that we don't get so far south. It might even be the outdoor wedding, with all dogs invited, that I've just watched. Or perhaps the beach walk at sunset... The first clear dawn or dusk of the trip!

Currently in two minds whether to stay here or head round to Tobermory tonight. It seems quite sheltered and it's certainly very pretty.

I've stayed. A clearing sky, a sheltered spot and a few friendly campervans for company gave me peace of mind in an area with zero coverage.
