Playing Catch-up # 5

A charming species rose - they are all coming out and look just delightful.  A few days of warm weather has brought the garden right on.  Very cold again today, though, and I have a couple coming to the garden to renew their wedding vows this afternoon, for their 10th Anniversary.  Hope they wear their thermals.

So here's the story of my past few days:  got a phone call from our liaison Ranger; Hi Tina, the Minister for the Environment wants to use OGH as a launch for a government initiative.   Fine I said.  When?  Next Tuesday - nothing too elaborate, but they do expect the House to be open, and a full contingent of volunteers on hand.  There'll be the big wigs from the Department, journalists, TV crew.    Oh, and they might want morning tea.  But you don't have to cater, they'll do all that themselves.

So - I went into overdrive, as you can imagine.  A flurry of phone calls, and the volunteers, bless all their hearts, have come up trumps.

We me with the planners who came up to see the site yesterday afternoon.  Naturally enough they arrived 45 minutes late.  After all we're only volunteers, and can afford to wait around.  Anyway, the event is de-escalating rapidly.  No morning tea (thank goodness) and it will last less than an  hour.

Why do bureaucrats always leave everything to the very last moment?
