It's a duck's life
Finnish Railways brought us pronto to Lappeenranta. This town is at the southerly end of the Saima lake system and the northerly end of the canal to Vyborg in Russia. We're within 30 kms of the Russian border and this is the most northerly and easterly spot I've been on the European continent.
We're here to meet some people for a walk tomorrow. Meanwhile we had a superb meal at Wanha Makasiini. Duck (yes), mushroom soup, arctic char, and homemade truffles.
And we have a room overlooking the lake.
