Deeply Worrying

I was late up to the Land today, after buying our week's supplies of fruit, vegetables, cheeses and chorizo at the market. As I walked past our neighbour's land, he was there, looking hassled and exhausted. He apologized for being absent - been working all hours to get feed to his boss's animals, as there is no grazing - so no time to tend to his own animals.

He stripped some olives off the tree he was under, and showed me - dried up and shriveled - no use, he said; might get a bit of oil, that's all. And he's not been able to sow his tilled land - peas should have been in long ago, but no rain, not possible.

We did think the unseasonable heat (33C today) and no rain, bar one shower, for months and months, and the rapidly diminishing levels in the Lake were worrying - but no-one seemed to be talking about it... Well, either we've not been socialising enough, or only with those disconnected from the land. Rodrigo is deeply worried.

I think, probably, we all should be.
