Blowing in the Wind

Set out this morning to do a 17km walk on the other side of the Lake, Alqueva to Amieira, but we left too late and it was just too hot, so ended up driving a lot of it, and swimming off the jetty at Amieira before eating lunch at a crowded (with locals, therefore good) little place belonging to Luis Cesar Dias Fialho Tojo. Love these long names.

Came back in time to see the procession here with Our Lady of Alcance, but what caught my eye most was this candle on the route. Got a great one of it smoking, and then this woman came up and started talking to the owner of the candle, hidden behind her door - loved the light on her glasses.

This quote by Jane Hirshfield:

The desire of monks and mystics is not unlike that of artists: to perceive the extraordinary within the ordinary by changing not the world but the eyes that look… To form the intention of new awareness is already to transform and be transformed.
