Not a great start!!

Ride to the Wall today and, as promised, I escorted Holly along 'A' and 'B' roads all the way from Gloucester to Alrewas, near Lichfield. A round trip of 185 miles. We met up at 0800 and set off up the Tewkesbury road but after about 8 miles we stopped at traffic lights and Holly said her exhaust was blowing badly. We pulled into a bus stop and found she'd lost a bolt from the manifold on one of the exhaust pipes.
She is very brave to do this on her little 125cc bike, and being a Learner rider, but it performed fine after the fix.
A few options were discussed but it was too early to get in touch with a couple of bike garages that I know so she called her Father. He came out, all the way from Cinderford so took him 45 minutes to get to us. He brought a couple of bolts and tools and quickly fixed it.
We set off and the journey, on motorways which would have taken 1.5 hours, took us 3.5 hours. Actual riding time was 2.5 hours but it was a good ride.
Holly's first Ride to the Wall and she was flabbergasted at the sight of around 10,000 bikes. We crawled for the last mile but it's an amazing day.
Extra of the one field where we were parked, other parking areas were around the place as well as in the National Memorial Arboretum itself.
