Bread and Circuses

This wheeled advert for a circus turned up outside our house today.  We've been following its progress east from Souillac since last week.  Now it's in our village - 18h Saturday and 16h Sunday.

We took a walk out across the river flood plain on a brilliantly sunny morning to find the tent (see my Extra pic).  There were llamas grazing in the field beside it.  A part, no doubt, of the animal content of the circus.

We have resisted the temptation to go and see it.  I went to a similar one many years ago, and it was a sad affair.  I remember the trapeze artist with great holes in her tights, and how she banged repeatedly off the roof of the tent as she swung back and forth on her trapeze.
